Pumpkinhead!

Someone has just informed me that the horror movie monster Pumpkinhead has a tail. This was a sketch I did from memory and didn't know exactly how he looked like in detail, but I liked the drawing anyway and decided to ink and color him up! So sorry to any hardcore horror movie fan or Pumpkinhead fan if he doesn't have a tail in the drawing.

Hope you like!

Is This Genius or What?!

I sure as heck think it is! Check out this clip from the Beavis and Butthead Do America movie. It's where Beavis starts hallucinating at 1:10.

God, I love this! The visuals are pretty insane and fun to watch. The song is pretty great too. It's from a White Zombie song called "Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks and Cannibal Girls". This is the kind of stuff that really inspires me.

I love the guitar intro by the huge green monster guy with the spikey-shouldered jacket. The way he moves to the music is just too cool! And the way he's designed is so appealing for me. The whole video looks incredible. All the little monster guys dancing around and how Beavis and Butthead are caricatured as these grotesque monsters are pretty amazing. They look very cartoony! They also look pretty scary as monsters, but in a funny way! I think that's a pretty neat combination.

Anyway I love Beavis and Butthead and I've alwasy wanted to draw them for a while so here's a little something I did...

This isn't part of my film. It something else I'm working on with a friend of mine. I might need to fix some stuff here and there, but I hope you like it!

George and Mike Drunk - Edit

Here's the layout that John wanted me to fix. The original drawing is the third one below in this post.

In the comments, John posted notes for me to fix some things in the original drawing.

He told me to make them a bit less wobbly, give them more construction and make George's eyebrow make sense.

I made note on where the wobbly parts on George and Mike were, so I decided to make their basic construction shapes rounder and simpler so that they can stand out more. I also simplified certain areas like George and Mike's arms and Mike's legs so they won't clash in design with their construction, which gets rid of some of the wobbliness.

I lowered George's right hand that's holding the bottle so that you can see the shape of his jaw more. I added a back side to George making him seem more solid in his construction and more plump when sitting down.

I simplified Mike's torso shape and made it more noticebale in his construction dewobbling his butt. I fixed Mike's head construction showing off an egg-like cranium with a massive jaw and a chin that sticks out. I messed up his har a bit more to add texture and add realness to his drunk appearance. I slightly turned his left hand so we can see his fingers a bit more and that it won't seem too similar to his right hand. I also made Mike's feet a bit smaller and more planted to the ground.

I made George's left hand connect straight to his forearm and fixed his eyebrow by adding two so that his left eyebrow can flow and connect with the meaty part of the brow that's sticking out.

Now looking at the drawing I think I might fix Mike's ass in where it should look like he's sitting on a flat surface. Right now it looks kind of floaty.

I should also probably fix Mike's left hand. It looks a bit bigger compared to his right hand. I wanted so that his left hand is slightly squeazing the bottle, but it looks a little weird to me.

Here's the construction

And here's the final drawing.

The quality's a bit ugly becuase it's a digital photo rather than a scanned image, but all the lines are still there.

This here's a layout test that John wanted me to do and here's the storyboard drawing for comparison.

It took me a while to tighten this drawing up and to get the actual feel of the storyboard sketch down. The problems I have with this drawing is that I made the characters way too big, George is too close to the frame, and George and Mike are way too close to each other.

Tell me what you think!

Freaky Cat!

What's up?! I figured I should put something else here rather than what I've been working on for my film. I got a new Wacom tablet recently and I wanted to see how I could ink drawings with it. I inked this in Flash and it came out okay, but the lines get all loose and uneven sometimes, which gets me all frustrated. I think I should start inking in Illustrator and see how that works for me.

Rabbit Animation and Some Other Stuff

Hey, folks! Here's a cleaned-up animation I recently finished plus some still frames. Sorry if the sound is kinda crappy. I exported the video along with the sound in Flash, which apparently messes up the sound a lot, but I have a sound designer who helps me out with all the technicalities.

Anyway, I hope you like!

Miy Film is Almost Kinda Done!

Hey, everybody. I feel really bad that I haven't put almost anything up this year, so I'm going to make it up to you by putting frames I've inked up from different scenes of my film! I'm still in the process of inking right now.

These were done in Flash using a Cintiq, which was really cool to use, but I'm going to have practice more to get much smoother lines.

Hope you like 'em!

Next time I'll probably either show you some more animation or some background paintings.

Hey! Speaking of Cintiq inking, have you checked out Katie Rice's blog? She has posted some drawings she's cleaned up in Flash that look really beautiful using a Cintiq. Her lines are so damn smooth! My favorite is all of them!
